DIY Herbal Facial Steam For Sinus Relief, Allergies, & Congestion
Hey, SBA Fam!
It's Brier here today! Glad to be chatting with you.
There are so many things I LOVE about this time of year, however, the allergies that commonly accompany this season are not one of them!
If you struggle with seasonal allergies, we get the struggle. Itchy eyes and throat, coughing, wheezing, sneezing, congestion... Not fun!
That's why the team and I at SBA wanted to share one of our favorite all-natural sinus relief DIYs. This is simple but oh-so effective.
I remember a few years back when I was at Chelsea's house and I was struggling to get relief from my seasonal allergies. She lovingly sat me down and fixed up this herbal facial steam that gave me so much relief. I sat there for 20-30 minutes, finally able to breathe out of my nose again as the mucus and congestion finally loosened up! Pro tip: keep some tissues near you. You'll need them!
Alright, here's how it's done:
Ingredients:
- Pot of water
- 1 tablespoon dried eucalyptus leaves and/or 5 drops of eucalyptus essential oil
- 1 tablespoon dried peppermint leaves and/or 5 drops of peppermint essential oil
- 1 tablespoon dried chamomile flowers
- 1 tablespoon dried lavender flowers and/or 5 drops of lavender essential oil
- 5 drops of tea tree essential oil
- 5 drops of rosemary essential oil
- Towel
Instructions:
- Boil the water in a pot.
- Once the water reaches a boil, remove it from the heat.
- Add your dried herbs and essential oils to your pot.
- Place the pot on a flat surface where you can comfortably sit and lean over it.
- Cover your head with a towel to create a tent over the bowl, trapping the steam.
- Close your eyes and breathe deeply, inhaling the herbal steam for about 5-10 minutes. Repeat until you feel that sweet relief!
- Be careful not to get too close to the steam - you don't want to burn your precious skin!
Notes:
-Adjust the level of herbs and essential oils to your liking. You can even throw in some citrus or rose petals to enhance the lovely smell. Adjust to your liking!
